Breast Cancer Awareness Month – The Men in Pink

The Men in Pink

Breast Cancer Awareness month is in full swing, and there are so many things for women to wear to support the cause.  But wait, what about men?  They want to show their support as well and maybe a bracelet or keychain isn’t enough.  And since I love color on men too, why not wear it?  Well, I am here to show men affordable and easy ways to incorporate sprinkles of pink into your wardrobe to support the cause with confidence!

The Man in the Hot Pink Suit wearing Moods of Norway

Before I begin, I came up with the idea to do this because The Man in the Hot Pink Suit wears his Moods of Norway 3-piece ensemble boldly all over town to support breast cancer awareness and inject some colorful cool into the men’s fashion scene.  Maybe you don’t want to go this far and wear all pink, but we can start with baby steps.  So what’s in it for you?

Are You Ready For Some Football?

Josh wearing the Nike Dedicated t-shirt

If you watch football, you see pink everywhere.  From the helmets to towels to cleats, you can’t miss it.  But what do you wear off the field?  Even if you don’t play football and you just like to be in shape, bike etc., you can wear this Nike Dedicated shirt from Sport Chalet.  The pink bar under the word is available for you to write in who you are dedicating the fight of breast cancer to, for that personalized touch.  Made of dri-fit cotton, you can work up a sweat and keep cool while fighting the fight! $28 http://www.sportchalet.com.

Spruce up your sneakers with pink shoelaces for BCA month!

Another touch of pink can be pulling out your current shoelaces from your sneakers and replacing them with pink ones!  You can buy these at any sports store, such as Sports Authority for $2.49.

Taking Care of Business

Rick wearing a Thomas Pink tie & cufflinks

It’s great to see many of the working class men wearing dress pink shirts this month.  Another way to accessorize your business look with pink is by wearing a Thomas Pink tie and matching cufflinks! One of the best places to purchase pink items for men, the tie pictured above is silk woven from England and the cufflinks are made from leftover pieces of the tie.  The tie is $115 and the cufflinks are $50.  Thomas Pink, Westfield Century City, 10250 Santa Monica Blvd., 310- 843-0014.

Turnbull & Asher pink striped pocket square from Bloomingdales

To add another level of sharpness to the suited and booted man, try adding a pocket square. I found this Turnbull & Asher one at The Men’s Store in Bloomingdales, which adds a bonus touch of class! $30. Bloomingdales -The Men’s Store, Westfield Century City, 10250 Santa Monica Blvd, 310-277-2100

Pep in Your Prep

A surprise find that would I love for men to be seen with is this pink 15-inch laptop case from Bric’s.  With a soft, microsuede type feel, this accessory can also hold your iPad, cell phone, notepad, etc. $60. Bric’s, Westfield Century City, 10250 Santa Monica Blvd., 310-551-1015

Alex & Louis pink bowtie and suspenders

If you’re more of a bowtie guy, Alex & Louis has a nice selection, including this pink plaid one I found.  They also have pink suspenders as well, which I think would be a unique touch to a preppy look! Bowtie, $60 Suspenders $45. Alex & Louis, Westfield Century City, 10250 Santa Monica Blvd., 310-710-8780

Maybe you want to show pink underneath your clothes, so why not wear these pink Turnbull & Asher socks if you dare?  These lightweight socks add some flair and could be all you need to “pinkefy” your look! $35. Bloomingdales -The Men’s Store, Westfield Century City, 10250 Santa Monica Blvd, 310-277-2100

Seeing Pink

Artez wearing pink lens Ray-Ban aviators

It’s always sunny somewhere, and men should be prepared with sunglasses.  Why not wear these sharp, Ray-Ban aviators with a light pink lens for BCA month?  It gives you that Mr. Cool look without overdoing it. $209. Sunglass Hut @ Macys, Westfield Century City, 10250 Santa Monica Blvd., 310-556-1611

H&m pink v-neck

Another option is a simple, pink v-neck.  H&M has them in stock right now, and you can dress it up with a blazer, sweater jacket, or just pair it up with jeans.  At $5.95 you could buy one of these and some other colors! H&M, www.hm.com/us
