Thorny Rose Varietals - Chardonnay, Cabernet Sauvignon, Sauvignon Blanc and Red Blend

Thorny Rose Varietals – Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Cabernet Sauvignon and Red Blend

Happy Holidays!

A great gift to give during the festive season is wine.   There are many options out there, but one I have just been introduced to is Thorny Rose.

With a refreshing, medium-bodied style, Thorny Rose is an affordable ($11) and delicious wine, making it a great stocking stuffer, holiday party hostess gift or a token of appreciation for your office BFF.

Recently, select influencers and Los Angeles notables gathered to fete the launch of Thorny Rose Wines at the trendy hidden LA hangout, The Spare Room at the Roosevelt Hotel.

The invite-only crowd sipped the new varietals (Chardonnay, Cabernet Sauvignon, Sauvignon Blanc and Red Blend), and enjoyed specialty small bites, including Grilled Cheese & Beef Short Rib, Fresh Ricotta Bruschetta with Fig, Truffle Risotto Balls, Chicken Empanadas and Mini Creme Brulee Pear Tarts for dessert.

While guests bowled strikes and played custom Jenga games, the famed indie pop band the White Arrows kept the hip crowd moving with their DJ set and live performance.

The Taste Awards

I had the honor of attending the Taste Awards on Thursday, January 12th.  Held at the Egyptian Theater, this awards show celebrates the best in food, fashion and home programs on TV, radio and online.

The event featured an exciting lineup of celebrity presenters including the Food Network’s Carrie McCully, Tanya Holland, Manouschka Guerrier, and Candice Kumai, Bravo TV’s Fabio Viviani, Nyesha Arrington, and Danielle Keene, Public Television’s Joanne Weir and Nathan Lyon, ION TV’s Michelle Harris, food broadcast gurus Bobby Bognar, Zuzy Martin Lynch, and Susan Irby, plus food and drink humorists Zane Lamprey and Jolene Sugarbaker.

There were 23 categories for winners and the show went pretty fast.  It was full of laughter, heartfelt speeches by the winners, and lots of women wearing sequins.  Afterwards there was a reception in front of the historic theater with tasty bites such as quinoa and red beet salad from Essential Nourishment, gourmet ruben sandwich and sweets from Shoop’s European Deli  and cheese from Satori.

The Man in the Hot Pink Suit also accompanied me to the event and we met several of the winners and nominees of the evening including Hannah Hart of “My Drunk Kitchen”, Jolene Sugarbaker The Trailer Park Queen and Debi Mazar and Gabriele Corcos of “Extra Virgin”.

My Culinary Affair with Rosa Mexicano

© Guzzle & Nosh

As a fashionista, not only do I want to share with you fab finds of clothing and beauty, but I also want to give you my picks for the most fashionable restaurants.

Celebrating my 3 year anniversary, my boyfriend and I wanted to go somewhere special. We walked on Sunset Blvd. looking for the perfect romantic, hip place and we approached Rosa Mexicano. As soon as I crossed the threshold, I was immediately sold.  The decor was beautiful, especially the waterfalls.  Leather seating, glass beading and mix of red and blues hues throughout gave it an upscale feel without being pretentious. It felt like a fun atmosphere and we had our choice of seating. We opted for outside since there were heat lamps and it was nice out!  For the chips and salsa, you get 2 sauces, mild and spicy where the spicy calls for drinking water every 2 dips. There is also guacamole made tableside, which they are known for, it so it’s a must try.

Moving on to drinks, the white sangria was AMAZING! It came with a small pitcher so you can have to glasses for one price. I had two rounds of it and my bf was enjoying it as well! Now the meal. OMG, it was sooo divine! I had the Salmon en Manchamanteles, which is a grilled salmon filet with tropical fruit mole sauce, zucchini and roasted corn. Mix all that together and it was perfection! It comes with house rice which was sooo delicious that I tried to finish it, but I was way too full. My boyfriend got the carne asada tacos, which was served in a skillet on top of melted chihuahua cheese and it came with this saucy corn that was oh so good!

Overall, ample food portions and great ambience equals a good time all the time! So put on your sexy outfit, pull out those heels and head over to Sunset Blvd. and have an affair with an upscale Mexican restaurant that will keep you coming back for more!
