LA Art Show 2015 Premiere Party

On January 15th I attended the 20th Anniversary of the LA Art Show Premiere party.  Located at the LA Convention Center, the show kicked off with a star-studded benefit for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital®, which is close to my heart. St. Jude is leading the way the world understands, treats and defeats childhood cancer and other life-threatening diseases. When treated here, families never receive a bill from St. Jude for medical, travel, housing or food, because all a family should worry about is helping their child live. I had the opportunity to visit the hospital last April to see first hand what is provided for these children and it’s amazing!

Hosted by Amy Adams and Darren Le Gallo, the opening night premiere party welcomed more than 5,000 celebrities, philanthropists, collectors, and art patrons.  There was so much beautiful, cool, unique, mesmerizing art to look at that you need the full 3-4 hours to go up and down every aisle to catch it all an absorb it!  Anything colorful caught my eye, along with things I had never seen before or things that look unreal.

One of my favorites was the acrylic paintings of Eugnia Song. Her mixes of color were spot on and they were very unique!

Staying true to my colorful self, I wore an ASOS watercolor paint dress that made me feel like a walking piece of art!  I kept an eye out for other stylish fashionistas, but it seemed many opted to wear black (where’s the fun in that?)

Other celebrities and tastemakers that attended include James Franco, Jesse Tyler Ferguson, Melanie Griffith, Nixx Sixx, Seth Green, Olivia Holt, Yara Shahidi, Dania Ramirez, and Josh Bowman

The LA Art Show took place from January 15-18 at the Los Angeles Convention Center, South Hall. If you were able to attend, what were some of your favorite pieces? For additional information about the LA Art Show, please visit www.laartshow.com.

Touchscreen gloves: Yes, we need them!

Living in Los Angeles I never thought I would need gloves.  I left them all behind in Chicago. Fast forward to now and for someone who works outside with a laptop and touch-screen phone, gloves are a necessity.  It has been rather cold here in LA lately and I remembered that a friend gave me a pair of touchscreen gloves last year that I never used.  I have worn them all this week and what a lifesaver they have been!  My hands and feet are the first and last body parts to get cold, so having these gloves in the elements have made my tasks much easier. Using my cell phone has been a breeze! So for my last post of 2014 I thought it would be nice to highlight where you can buy a cool pair of touchscreen gloves (all in my favorite colors)!  Please note these might not be suitable for extremely cold conditions!

Wear It How You Want It

This ASOS dress went from long sleeves to short sleeves - which do you prefer?

This dress went from long sleeves to short sleeves – which do you prefer?

I always love a colorful in-your-face print on clothing.  This ASOS artwork dress I bought while in Chicago from my favorite fashionista-on-a-budget store Crossroads Trading Co. fits that description spot on. I purchased this dress a year ago and was waiting for the perfect event to wear it too, and finally I wore it to Art City LA.  But a week before I wore it out, I stared at it and felt I needed to alter the dress by changing the long sleeves to short sleeves.

Fits perfectly and love the sleeve chop!

Fits perfectly and love the sleeve chop!

Living in LA has me spoiled all year round with the beautiful sunshine and warmth.  Seeing long sleeves on this dress didn’t feel right, and I wanted some arm exposure and room to breathe!  Once the change was made I was so glad I did it! I enjoy wearing bracelets, so this allowed me to showcase some fun silver jewelry.  The sleeves were now the perfect length and I was ready to wear it out and feel my best.  My takeaway from this is, if you feel an article of clothing needs a change to adjust to your lifestyle or fashion sense, go for it!  Now what else should I alter in my closet?
