The Final Rose Fashions: Going For the Gold

I didn’t watch this season of The Bachelor, but I did tune in to the finale and after the final rose to check out the fashions that Catherine Guidici and Lindsay Yenter would wear.  Out of all the seasons of this show, I was definitely underwhelmed with the selection of dresses this year for the Final Rose.  Gold and silver dresses?  In Thailand? Yawn.  They were more dressed for the Golden Globes instead of for an engagement to Sean Lowe.  Don’t get me wrong, but I love David Meister.  They both had the opportunity to pick out dresses and they both went for metallic.

Catherine went for the gold and got the man! Nice choice in that regard, but I think she would’ve looked even more stunning in a royal blue or berry dress.

Lindsay picked a silver metallic racer back gown that didn’t do much for her cleavage.  A yellow halter dress would have suited her more.  And the runner up gets the silver.  Coincidence in the color choices?

During After the Final Rose, Lindsay came out in a sexy “I may not have won the prize but I look hot” dress” by Nightcap Clothing.  It was white, showing that she is still the innocent angel ready to get married!

Catherine came out and reunited with Sean in a DVF navy blue lace dress.  Really?  Where’s the color? Are you going to a funeral? This dress is sold at Bloomingdale’s and comes in several other colors such as pink, turquoise and red.  She would’ve looked 10 times better in one of those options.  Lindsay actually looked way hotter than Catherine this time around, and they did almost mirror black and white trend.  C’mon ladies, show me some more spice that that and don’t be afraid of bright hues!

Do you agree with my style choices?  Well, I wish Catherine and Sean a lifetime of bliss.  Looking forward to next season to see what Des will wear to her final rose!

Giuliana Rancic Dishes on the Oscars Red Carpet & Beauty Tips

The Style Goddess & Giuliana Rancic

The Oscars – an annual event for the stars and a time to honor top movies of the year.  For fashionistas, it’s a time to see who will be walking the red carpet and what they are wearing.  I had the opportunity to chat with Giuliana Rancic, co-anchor of E! News and costar on the Fashion Police, to get the inside scoop on the big day tomorrow and learn more about her new beauty regimen.

Looking fabulous in DVF (Diane von Furstenberg) at the W Hotel Hollywood, we complimented each other on our looks (she loved my BCBG goldenrod peep-toe pumps) and then got down to business.

1.     What’s your prediction on who will rock the red carpet?

J. Lo will be presenting this year and she will be the one to rock the red carpet.  She’s looking so good right now at 42, with kids and a divorce! Michelle Williams is another one to watch as well as Rooney Mara – I would love to see her wear a bold color.

2.     What will be the “It” color of the evening?

Lot’s of white gorgeous gowns! I will also be wearing white twice for the evening.  It appears that lately the color I wear to these awards shows turns out to be the “it” color most celebs are wearing.

3.    Which designer is the one to watch?

Marchesa!  I love the new collection and Viola Davis wore her at the Golden Globes.  And it was white!

4.      You’re not wearing foundation these days what’s the secret to you natural glow?

We spend so much money on makeup it’s best to take care of your skin while wearing it.  That means don’t fall asleep with it on because it can cause you to break out more. I’m now using DDF (Doctors Dermatologic Formula), which is a Professional skincare line that’s affordable and sold at Sephora.

5.      What are some tips & tricks for looking naturally gorgeous?

Less is more.  I love a smokey eye during the week and a really clean look for sophistication.  Take skin care seriously!  Use the right products that work for your skin and no botox.  DDF is great for my skin and you can even get a skin consultation at Sephora to see what works for you!

I would have loved to talk with her more, but the show must go on and I can’t wait to see what’s in store for the red carpet on Sunday!  I also got some of the DDF products that I can’t wait to try and will do a review on them in March.

Be sure to check out DDF’s Facebook Page to see when they’ll be at your Sephora for a skin consultation (LA is today at Westfield Century City, 10250 Santa Monica Blvd.) and for a chance to chat with Giuliana about fresh face tips and her red carpet faves live next Tuesday!

PRAS Ep. 4 – So Delicious I Could Eat It?

Can you make a creative outfit in 6 hours? That was the challenge given to the designers On Project Runway All-Stars this past week, where the final product had to be oh-so-fabulous and inspired by a gelato flavor. Gelato is so delicious and has great colors, so I was excited to see bright in the light!  Diane von Furstenberg was the guest judge along with Miranda Kerr who would select one of the garments to wear.  My highs (Mondo & Michael) and lows (Jerell, Kara, Rami, Mila & April):

Mondo's Cantaloupe Look

Mondo’s gelato flavor was cantaloupe and the caftan he created was very chic, flowy and a nice mix of true cantaloupe colors. He was spot on with the accessories and it’s the perfect dress to accessorize!  He was a close runner-up, but I felt he should have been selected as winner.

Michael's Grapefruit Look

Michael had a grapefruit gelato and the color he chose for his garment is more like a muted rose.  His design is sexy, flowy and chic, but I don’t agree with him being chosen as the winner.  I feel the main reason he won is because Miranda Kerr liked that she would be able to breast feed in that outfit.  He does have impeccable skills for sewing though.

Jerell's Fruits of the Forest Look

His gelato flavor was Fruits of the Forest. I see no reflection of that in this dress, more Nuts of a trail Mix.  This hippie look isn’t cute.

Kara's Chocolate with Cayenne Pepper Look

Kara got stuck with chocolate with cayenne pepper flavor.  Being a dark flavor, I would hope there was some color pop to her design.  She brought that, but the dress did look like she was wearing a ruffled carriage.  Hopefully she can redeem herself in the next challenge.

Rami's Kiwi Look

How in the world was Rami safe with this getup?  Inspired by kiwi, the execution and final product looked unfinished in the top.  This looked like kiwi after you chew it up, messy.

Mila's Sour Cherries Look

I’ve had enough of her color blocking, but a part of me likes this look. For her sour cherries inspiration at least she didn’t choose black and white, but she did throw in a black belt and clunky shoe that made the look heavy.  Can she please try something different and get me outta bed?

April's Blueberry Look

April selected blueberry and I was hoping there would be no black in her garment either.  She picked a nice blue and what did she do?  Cover it with black sheer!  I like her initial sketch with the black jersey top but she didn’t find that fabric.  Her dress looked the most unfinished in 6 hours and poorly put together.  It could be wearable for Halloween, but not anywhere else.

Well, that’s the scoop for this week, now go have some gelato! 🙂
