LA Art Show 2015 Premiere Party

On January 15th I attended the 20th Anniversary of the LA Art Show Premiere party.  Located at the LA Convention Center, the show kicked off with a star-studded benefit for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital®, which is close to my heart. St. Jude is leading the way the world understands, treats and defeats childhood cancer and other life-threatening diseases. When treated here, families never receive a bill from St. Jude for medical, travel, housing or food, because all a family should worry about is helping their child live. I had the opportunity to visit the hospital last April to see first hand what is provided for these children and it’s amazing!

Hosted by Amy Adams and Darren Le Gallo, the opening night premiere party welcomed more than 5,000 celebrities, philanthropists, collectors, and art patrons.  There was so much beautiful, cool, unique, mesmerizing art to look at that you need the full 3-4 hours to go up and down every aisle to catch it all an absorb it!  Anything colorful caught my eye, along with things I had never seen before or things that look unreal.

One of my favorites was the acrylic paintings of Eugnia Song. Her mixes of color were spot on and they were very unique!

Staying true to my colorful self, I wore an ASOS watercolor paint dress that made me feel like a walking piece of art!  I kept an eye out for other stylish fashionistas, but it seemed many opted to wear black (where’s the fun in that?)

Other celebrities and tastemakers that attended include James Franco, Jesse Tyler Ferguson, Melanie Griffith, Nixx Sixx, Seth Green, Olivia Holt, Yara Shahidi, Dania Ramirez, and Josh Bowman

The LA Art Show took place from January 15-18 at the Los Angeles Convention Center, South Hall. If you were able to attend, what were some of your favorite pieces? For additional information about the LA Art Show, please visit www.laartshow.com.

Sunshine Saturday

Even though it was mostly a cloudy day today, I was determined to get the sun to come out and wear a maxi dress.  I headed to Seal Beach and Huntington Beach and found plenty of sunshine and laid back vibes there!  It was the perfect setting for my attire and being by the ocean is so serene.  So here is my Saturday style breakdown: Dress – Veronica M., Necklace – Rummage sale (Miss going to these in the Chi), Sandals – Sears.

Ruffles & Rainbows

I attended the Leicht grand opening party in West Hollywood on 5-15-14 and opted for a colorful artsy look.  I love this green ruffle top I wore, as it was a random find at a consignment shop in Manhattan Beach.  100% silk, I feel like I could shake my way into anything!  I paired it with pearl chandelier earrings, rainbow wedge sandals from DSW, and dark denim jeans.

Plaza El Segundo – Hidden Gem, Newfound Sweets

Collage

From left to right: Plaza El Segundo Pre-Valentine’s Day invitation, SweetXO cake balls and candy, me in front of a colorful candy selection, the goodie bag with filled with gifts from plaza retailers.

I always enjoying discovering new places to shop that are nearby and totally unexpected.  I was recently invited to a Pre-Valentine’s event at Plaza El Segundo, and I was excited to see what I could find there!

First, I didn’t realize that Plaza El Segundo was in my back yard.  Roughly 20 minutes away with no traffic, there is a beautiful plaza just South of LAX with a nice mix of stores, such as Whole Foods, Container Store, and Anthropologie.  I arrived at the tail end of the event, but I was so glad I made it in time to mosey around SweetXO!

SweetXO is a sweet tooth’s dream – it’s a candy store, bake shop, ice cream and yogurt haven with a gift shop mixed in.  The fun colors all throughout the store made this a definite keeper for me since bright hues always make my day.  There was a pop of every color of the rainbow in the store and I commend SweetXO for taking it to the next level by keeping things fun and playful in this unique retail destination.  And what a smart idea to have a lounge with white leather seating where you can get social and enjoy your goodies!

I tried a few flavors of ice cream and took home a special treat, SweetXO cake balls – I must say these are the BEST cake balls I have ever eaten!  They were so decadent and moist that even though I wanted to eat 2 in one sitting I settled for 1 a night until they were gone (Had a pack of 4).

There was so much to take in that I definitely have to make a trip back to really enjoy it all, but the goodie bag I received helped give me an intro to what’s in store.

For all your sweet tooth needs, look no further than SweetXO – you will not regret it!
